ON LENTE FANTASMA

The phantom has the perfect density to become a crack, a discreet and sturdy peephole. It has just enough presence to hold a bedsheet a few feet above the floor yet remain undetectable once the sheet is gone. Neither spirit nor body, neither visible nor invisible, the phantom becomes a gap through which something else can be glimpsed. Some kind of vehicle or a lens.And Lente Fantasma is precisely a search for phantom lenses.These lenses are scattered throughout reality and can take countless forms: sounds, koans, dissociative moments, collaborative works, objects, emotions, gatherings, drawings, garments, fanzines. The medium itself matters little, it’s only a lens. What matters instead is to expose the emperor’s nakedness throughout those lenses. To cut holes and breaches across superstructures like language, which lead us to confuse the conventional with the real, the map with the territory, the representation of reality with reality itself.So, what might the territory look like once the maps have fallen? What could we see if we accepted the conventional as purely historic rather than natural, if we escaped the Procrustes' bed? This is the question that drives Lente Fantasma through the endless web of relationships in which it is embodied.

Lente Fantasma is a liquid research device curated by SG. Some kind of non-local gallery/spiritual shelter that gathers records, relations, artistic forms & other facilitators in the practice of dismantlement.SG is an anthropologist by training, holding a master’s degree on the co-dependent origination in the etiology of type 2 diabetes. She is co-founder of Yerevan Tapes (an experimental record label active 2011–2020) and Ombre Lunghe (2014–ongoing), and a phenomenology enthusiast with a focus on Eastern and Western contemplative traditions.

If life is not something that just happens to matter, but how matter organises itself through the relations that manifest it, then it follows that when the scheme ends, the organism dies.Death is the deconstruction of relations while the components are still there.It's like the disassembled car: every single part is on the table but the relations are gone. That very scheme turned into other schemes and no functioning car is left in the room.More broadly, this mechanism is the inner pattern of life: a fractal structure of networks within networks, where the node is just a comfy hallucination in the fluid web. As Margulis observed, even the driving force of the primordial process lay not in the emergence and dominance of one organism over others, but in an endless flux of synergistic and symbiotic events - or as she said: life did not take over the globe by combat, but by networking.Still, seeing the unreality of the node is a complex task. Especially when almost every global force pushes toward node’s glittering consecration, promising eternal happiness to those who best enhance their own and win the beauty contest. So much effort for wishful thinking.But if utility and maximization of purpose exalt the node, perhaps one of the keys to glimpsing the co-emergence of the real is exactly to work by accumulation, to cultivate wide & unproductive gardens.Minor Ecologies is thus a collection of useless tools for useful times. Eerie, bulky, unprofitable debris that by their sedimentation exposes the transmission of signals between beings, bits, stars, the dead, rocks and dreams within the restless chaosmos.

Lente Fantasma floats over the ashes of Yerevan Tapes (2011-2020), an experimental electronic label that has explored in almost 40 releases the most disconnected territories of ambient music, releasing Abadir, Isorinne, Sugai Kei, German Army among others, as well as being a pillar of the so called Italian Occult Psychedelia.After a five year hiatus, Lente Fantasma works now as a fluid research device, merging personal exploration into a broader space of relationship, while curiously exploring a new map of sounds.

YER038 -FRANCESCA FLORA &NOBILE - PILLARSIn 1962 Ballard wrote a tale about singing statues scattered across a vermilion-sands desert. Languid emblems of a future already gone that kept vibrating their melodies against the vast cliffs beyond the dunes. Much like in Ballard’s vision, the voices and soundscapes of pillars seem to emerge from a time out of sync. Brazen in their eeriness, they dwell where echoes come back heavier than they left, as if they carried back the cavern itself. Fully composed through the machinical re-elaboration of Francesca Flora's vocal expression, pillars work as her sighs, screams, hums, laments, jingles, words and phrases, surgically assembled by nobile into sorrowful and grotesque musical tales. Each sound belongs to the arpeggio of a vocal chord, giving birth to an elegy of the intimacy it withholds and of the dread it provokes.

This seventeen-minute EP is an emotional thesaurus for a new language of wonder.
